Day 4 - A Ride on the Boat

It was yet another beautiful day and our family was invited to go on a little boat trip to an island out in the lake. Our wonderful host, Vephvia Merkviladze, who is the chief of water police of Balkhash, was kind enough to pick us up at the resort, drive us to his boat station and take us along to that little island, which is called "The Bird Island". The island wasn't really far into the lake, but it was about twenty minute ride on the boat. Before getting on the boat I looked around and here's what I saw...

An old boat that was sitting there upside down

The view of the copper-smelting factory of Balkhash

The police boat we got to ride and our wonderful host Vephvia Merkviladze

This used to be a working lighthouse but now it is under construction

Another boat that was just nearby.... it is called "Eagle"
It was the first time my sister and I were on a boat this big, so we had to climb all over the place and take all kinds of photos :)
My mommy. You can tell it was pretty windy there! :)

Titanic? Not quite. But the feeling was great!

My brave little sister

They call it "The Bear", can you see why?

When the boat stopped by the island we sneaked in there just for the photos, we weren't actually driving the boat
So when we stopped to spend some time on the island two guys that work on that boat set this wonderful table for us with all kinds of seafood dishes and real "Hachapuri" - Georgian cheesy bread. That lunch was unforgettably delicious...
After lunch we went for a walk on the island, it was a beautiful island with lots of rocks, but surprisingly not so many birds, inspite of its name "The Bird Island"

My sister and I were modeling for each other :)

After we came back to the boat my sister and I decided to jump off of it into the water, but we were too scared to jump so we decided to climb off the little stairs and just carefully push off of it and swim to the shore and back. Three times :) It was a lot of fun!

We had a blast! It was time to go home, so on the way back we continued exploring the boat as much as we could!

It said "Elina" on there... Alina thought it was a mistake :)

Back to the shore where we started

It was a great day! We were a little burnt, but very happy and with lots of fun memories!
